Functions

Three rooms, a kitchen that never crosses the floor, and 61 bedrooms upstairs when the evening runs long.

Three rooms, and what each one holds

All three are on the lake side of the building and all three take daylight, which is rarer in a function room than it should be. Capacities below are the ones the fire report allows, not the ones we would like to quote.

The Cecil Peak Room 148 m²
160 standing, 110 seated for dinner, 90 in rows
Ground floor, opening onto the west lawn. Blackout blinds, a 4.4 m ceiling, and a service door that means the kitchen never crosses the room.
The Kelvin Room 62 m²
36 in rows, 26 in a U, 20 around one table
First floor, east light all morning. The one we use for training days and the one the ski patrol books every May.
The Lookout Room 24 m²
10 around the table
Second floor. One table, ten chairs, a screen, and a door that shuts on the corridor.

Conferences and meetings

Day delegate from NZ$89 a head · minimum ten people

The day delegate rate covers room hire from eight until five, morning and afternoon tea, a working lunch in The Kawarau Room, still and sparkling water on the tables, and a projector we have never had to apologise for. Wi-fi is on a separate line from the guest network, which matters on the one day a year everyone is streaming.

The Cecil Peak Room has a service door behind the stage, so the kitchen never crosses the floor. That sounds like a detail until you have sat through a speech interrupted by a trolley.

The Kelvin Room takes east light all morning and is the room the ski patrol books every May for its pre-season briefing. The Lookout Room is one table, ten chairs, a screen and a door that shuts on the corridor.

Weddings and private dinners

We take one wedding a day and never two, which is the whole reason people book us over the larger places in town. The Cecil Peak Room seats 110 for dinner and opens onto the west lawn, and the lawn is where the photographs happen at about half past eight in January.

Ceremonies on the lawn need a wet-weather call by noon on the day; we make it with you rather than for you. The kitchen writes a menu with you rather than handing over a folder of three packages.

Private dinners for eight to twenty-four sit in the alcove off The Kawarau Room, with its own door and its own service. Wine comes off the same list — 140 labels, 96 of them Central Otago.

Directions

After the dinner

The Ben Lomond Room is open midday to 1am to guests and visitors aged 20 and over, with photo identification checked at the door. It is one room in the building, not the reason to book it.

The gaming rooms

White Heath is a casino hotel and entertainment resort at the Frankton Arm on Lake Wakatipu, in Queenstown, New Zealand. This website provides information about our hotel, gaming room, dining, events and guest services. The Ben Lomond Room offers slot machines, table games and more, available exclusively on site to guests and visitors aged 20 and over. Everything we offer happens inside the building: there is nothing on this website to play, nothing to install, and no way to gamble remotely.
